In early November, we attended the Kalamazoo MI Dog show and the girls represented Otterhounds in the Owner Handler competition. On Sat Judge Dana Cline awarded the girls a group 3, and the following day Judge Muriel Purkhiser awarded them a group 1 and free pass to Best in Show. It was a great experience for the OHeavens kids, and I am very very proud of them! I would encourage any otterhound owners to show under these judges, as I believe they really like our breed. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!!!
On November 13, with a progesterone of 12.8, Dr Katie Gardner from Meadowlands Vet clinic in Washington PA, surgically implanted 350,000,000 of Luggy's sperm into Calli's uterus. This is music to my ears.......now comes the hard part. The wait. Over the last few litters, this is the most unbearable time for a breeder. We look for little inuendos, is she eating more? is that morning sickness? Does she look more plump than usual? So I am focused on fast forwarding 30 days, with hopes that we see little walnut sized blobs in the ultrasound. These are times of anxiety, and we hope that we can add to the otterhound gene pool, and happiness to those who are looking for an otterhound puppy. I hope we get a tri color pup or two, or three, or maybe even more. Note to self; don't count your chickens before they hatch ;)
