Taffey and Tonka, a brother-sister pair, were the first Otterhounds to call OHeaven's home way back in 2001. Norma Braun of Janora Kennels invited us to come meet her newest litter of Otterhound puppies one summer weekend, little did we know just what this innocent visit would lead to in the future for us! We took Tonka home at 8 weeks of age and were immediately smitten with the breed, then his sister Taffey came to join us from a rescue situation, and we were hooked deep into the breed from that moment on. Taffey was the showier of the two, fearless and flashy, while Tonka was much more laid back and always begging for more attention. We achieved Taffey's championship, and both were cherished and loved during their long years with us. We unfortunately lost Tonka to Hemangiosarcoma just shy of his 12th birthday and his sister Taffey went to join him at the rainbow bridge a year later from old age. They were OHeavens first hounds and the cornerstone to our long affiliation with the breed we love.
